A Christmas Tree Trimming Tradition
There are many versions of the Christmas Pickle ornament tradition. Its actual origin is unclear. Most Americans refer to it as a German tradition, but it is most accurately to say that it is a German-American tradition. Nevertheless, this tradition says that once the Christmas Tree has been fully decorated, a glass pickle ornament is hidden within its boughs. On Christmas Eve or Christmas morning, the children look for the pickle ornament that has been hidden in the Christmas Tree. The first child to find the pickle gets one extra present that has been left under the tree by Santa Claus. Other versions of the tradition say that the lucky person would have a year of good fortune and gets to hide the pickle the following Christmas. Regardless of which version of the Christmas Pickle ornament tradition you choose to follow, you will surely create unforgettable memories to cherish forever.
