Fairy Wedding
My son-in-law proposed to my daughter at Yosemite National Park. So, to me, it is a magical place filled with dreams. Yosemite is the home of a wide variety of majestic pine trees and you may find pinecones of all sizes as you hike through its trails. Like any woodland, many fairy species are found in this magical natural wonder. One of these species is the pixie.
When it came time to plan the wedding, we wanted to add lots of very personal touches. I embraced the task of designing a Christmas ornament that would encapsulate their love journey. Then, we could give this ornament to the guests as a wedding memento. So I created the Pinecone Pixie ornament to celebrate my daughter’s real wedding, and to commemorate her fairy ceremony.
Pinecone Pixie Ornament Design Process
I designed the pinecone pixie with gold and white wings. This pixie bats his fairy wings as he flies through the woods from pine branch to pine branch. During his flight, he stops to collect seeds and fern spores. I gave the pixie a hat made from an acorn, which he wears on top of his short hair. Next, I gave him pointy ears to accentuate his playful demeanor. After that, I made his cape from silk leaves and I wrapped a scarf around his neck. Finally, I added Little beads to decorate his belt. As he flaps his wings, a subtle yellowish light resembling that of fireflies, emanates from his body. This light makes him attract butterflies and other bugs as he flies through the enchanted pine forest.
