Knight of The Round Table Ornament
s I was considering different subjects that would capture the interests of young boys, I decided to research iconic medieval characters. That is how I discovered the character richness of the legend of King Arthur and Knights of The Round Table. I thought ‘Certainly, these characters would appeal to boys, and girls too.’ Indeed, an era where queens, princesses, kings, princes, and knights ruled the world was the perfect theme for my ornaments. So, I chose to embark on a special journey to the medieval ages and this The Round Table ornament came about. Therefore, much research went into the design of these ornaments. So much research went into the design of these ornaments! I incorporated lots of details that make these ornaments extraordinarily memorable. Pair this collectible with its companion, the Sir Lancelot (a.k.a. Sir Launcelot of the Lake) ornament, for a perfect set.
Knight of The Round Table Ornament Design Process
The most important element of the Knight of the Round Table ornament is his armor. Finding the right material was of the utmost importance. So, I found a perfect silver and black lady’s evening knit top to make his armor from. Next, I found a pure silver knit tank top to make his helmet. I sew the helmet mostly by hand. Because of the tiny size of the helmet, I had the hardest time making it. Also, aligning the helmet with his facial features to protect his nose bridge was particularly challenging.
Next, to complement his chest armor, I gave the knight a shield. I used a mini crest charm for the shield and painted it with enamel model paint. Additionally, the knight carries a sword that dangles from his leather belt. The knight is ready to slay dragons, gargoyles, and griffins. Finally, I added a cape which I affixed at the shoulders to complete his outfit.
This ornament represents all the Knights of The Round Table. Like Sir Pellias, Sir Gawaine, Sir Tristan, Sir Percival, or Sir Galahad. However, Sir Lancelot (a.k.a. Sir Launcelot of the Lake), has his own ornament given the importance of this character in the tale.
