Three Wise Men Ornaments Set
s I was designing the Three Wise Men ornaments, I became overwhelmed by my childhood memories. I remembered setting up the three majestic figurines of mom’s Nativity scene. And later, watching my nieces and nephews taking turns being one of the Three Magi at the Christmas pageant. And finally, waking up the morning of the Three Kings Day to discover my shoes filled with chocolates. These memories filled my heart with their warmth. So these ornaments’ designs are inspired by these memories, and by my interpretation of each of the Three Kings of Orient. Celebrate Christmas and Epiphany with these delicately handcrafted ornaments that will bring you joy for years. Display them on the mantle, or coffee table, along with the rest of the ornaments in this collection.
Three Wise Men Ornaments Set Design Process
I wanted Melchior, Caspar, and Balthazar to have a very regal aura, being Kings after all. I selected gold and silver ribbons to decorate their robes and capes. First, for Melchior, I chose a color palette of black, white, and red, with gold accents. To point out, Melchior was the Wise Men who gifted gold to Baby Jesus. So I gave him a round gold bottle with a crystal cap to carry.
Second, for Caspar, the oldest Wise Men, I chose a color palette of blues and greens. Interestingly, Caspar offered frankincense to the Christ Child. So, he carries a blue bottle that represents this exotic and aromatic oil. I gave him a hand-embroidered cape to emphasize his being the elder of the three.
Third, for Balthazar, the black Wise Men, I selected a color palette of oranges, burgundies, and purples. Notably, Balthazar presented myrrh to Child Jesus. So, I made a bottle from plastic beads that represents the gift of myrrh. Finally, I hand painted their faces with a tender expression and gave them all beards and moustaches. To complete their outfit, each Wise Men is wearing a royal crown decorated with precious gems.
