Mermaid Ornament

o many little girls are fascinated by mermaids while growing up. Certainly, I was one of them. Mermaids, being such fascinating mythical creatures, captured my attention and imagination as a little girl too. And my daughter was captivated by mermaids every bit as much as I was. Just like Peter Pan’s mermaids on Marooner’s Rock, we spent countless summer afternoons at the pool filled with hours of mermaid games. These happy memories of mine and my daughter’s combined were the inspiration for this Mermaid figurine.

Mermaid Ornament Design Process

I made the mermaid’s eyes the focal point of my Mermaid figurine design. With sea-green sparkling eyes, this Mermaid collectible is sure to capture your attention! To begin, I gave her long eyelashes and luscious lips to seize the interest of visitors to the Mermaids’ Lagoon. Then, I decorated her forehead with sparkly lime-green scales. And last, to complete her mesmerizing look, I placed a precious turquoise stone between her eyes to accentuate her perfectly shaped eyebrows.

I framed the Mermaid’s face with full-body-long hair that cascades as if it were a waterfall and disappears into the aqua-colored waters of Mermaids’ Lagoon. In addition, I used multi-tone strands of hair that range from yellow-to blue-to-green, to add an extra dimension to her spellbinding character.

I designed her fins in multi-color light shades of turquoise, lavender, and purple sparkly scales. I also added a seashell with a glass beads necklace that decorates her neckline. Seashells dangle from the sash that enhances her hour-glass shape, and reminds us of the sea-creature she is. The Mermaids’ Lagoon is almost as important as the Mermaid itself, so I sat her by Marooners’ Rock, ready to dive into the Lagoon at the slightest sense of danger.
