Mrs. Claus Ornament
hen designing the Santa Claus ornament, I had the idea of having a matching Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus set. So, I handcrafted these ornaments as pairs using the same repurposed and recycled materials. When you buy both Kris Kringle and Mrs. Kringle at the same time, you will receive a matching set. Mrs. Claus Ornament Design Process
I gave Mrs. Claus a traditional Santa Claus hat. Although, instead of the iconic red hat, I made the hat from cotton fabrics of different Christmas prints and colors, giving Mrs. Claus a less conventional look. I also decorated the hat with berries and beads. Finally, I trimmed the hat with color-coordinated pipe-cleaners.
I used cardboard tubes my husband found at a garage sale many years ago to make the body of Mrs. Claus. Then I used red acrylic paint to paint the tubes so she would have a red outfit. Then, I gave her white hair pulled up on short ponytails to frame her jolly face. Next, I gave her wire-frame glasses made from jewelry wire. Finally, I made her an apron from a narrow-embroidered trim to complete her outfit. And she is wearing black shoes.
The Gingerbread Man
When I think of Mrs. Claus, the first thing that comes to mind is the smell of delicious freshly baked cookies. So, I created Mrs. Claus holding a large gingerbread man cookie made from bake-clay. I intentionally melded the lore of Mrs. Claus with The Gingerbread Man folktale because I can easily imagine The Gingerbread Man running around Mrs. Claus’ kitchen while she is trying to get her baking done on time for Christmas. These Mrs. Claus ornaments will surely warm the hearts of any bakers on your holiday gift list.
