North Pole Snowman Ornament
y now you may know that I was born in Caracas, Venezuela. Consequently, I was foreign to the wonders of snow when I arrived in Columbus, Ohio. Even though I hate driving in the snow, waking up to a white snow-covered world is a magical experience. So, when my children were little, we took advantage of every single heavy snowfall we were lucky to get in Columbus. With schools closing, we had the whole day to build snowmen, dragons, igloos and forts. The snow was an empty white canvas that awaited our imagination. I thought it would be great to capture these wonderful memories so I designed the North Pole Snowman ornament for you to celebrate your own snow day memories.
Imagine him standing outside Santa’s Workshop watching Santa’s Helpers make toys as you decorate your Christmas Tree. Or simply, add it as one more frosty character to your own snowmen collection. Even more, you can pair him with the rest of the ornaments in the Santa Claus Ornaments Collection, for a wonderful, delightful Christmas characters set.
North Pole Snowman Ornament Design Process
First, I embroidered the snowman’s face with black glass beads to resemble coal. I gave him a crooked smile that shows a hint of his mischievous personality. For the nose, I molded a carrot with orange colored bake-clay. Next, I gave the Snowman a traditional top hat that I decorated with berries and a sash made from ribbon. Subsequently, I added a long scarf around his neck that flows with the wind. Therefore, making whimsical waves as the wintery winds blows on his face. Also, I used twigs to make his arms.
The Final Touch
Finally, the snowman could not be complete without a broom. So, I made his broom from cheap paint brushes and mini dowel-rods. This uniqueNorth Pole Snowman ornament has become a favorite of kids of all ages!
