Inspiration
created this Pixie Fairy Stick Puppet ornament to celebrate the pixies all around the world. Even more, to also commemorate Pixie Day, a Midsummer’s Day ancient legend celebration when the Pixies take their revenge from being banished. Celebrate the summer solstice with the Pixie Fairy and the Flower Fairy Stick Puppet ornaments.

Pixie Fairy Facts
Fairy lore tells us that Pixies inhabit the Southwest England territory, specifically, the Cornwall and Devon regions. Although, I have seen them in my neck of the woods. Indeed, I have been lucky to catch a glimpse of one Pixie perched on a twig, just for a few seconds. Just long enough to catch its breath before continuing in its never-ending flight. Pixies fly at high speeds and can flap their wings so rapidly that their wings can disappear in the air like those of hummingbird. It is easier to find them by listening to the buzzing-chanting of their wings than by catching a glance of them.
A Golden Pixie World
Have you ever wondered where does the golden dust that covers the world during the Autumn season comes from when Mother Earth is getting ready to sleep? I have seen this phenomenon in the Midwest. Especially in a neighborhood called Clintonville, which is home to The Bird Sanctuary.
Stories say that this Bird Sanctuary is home of many fairy species thought to be extinct long ago. A lot of fairies migrate to Ohio, to make this Bird Sanctuary their winter home. The golden dust that covers this neighborhood during the Fall is simply pixie dust from all the visitors! I cannot attest that this phenomenon occurs in other places. But by the Bird Sanctuary, you can experience a golden world one never thought existed. In early morning, before the wind awakes, in the crisp cold of the Autumn season, our world turns magically golden.
The Design
I gave the Pixie aerodynamic pointy ears and boyish short hair to ease its flight. Also, I made its wings smaller than those of the Flower Fairy. After all, the Pixie Fairies are smaller than the Flower Fairies. Additionally, I used acorns for their hats. These serve as helmets to protect them from tree branches and rocks because they usually fly carelessly when exploring their surroundings. Like the Flower Fairies, the Pixie Fairies fly in flocks. This is how they can glaze the world in a golden hue in a few swoops. Undoubtedly, they all carry wands to sprinkle pixie dust as they fly. Therefore, I gave it a wand with berries.
Like all the other members of the Stick Puppets Collection, the Pixie Fairy sits on a long stick. This way, kid’s little hands can grab the stick without crushing the playful Pixie Puppet!
