Iced Cupcake Ornament
ho has not baked cupcakes for a birthday party? Or for a baby shower? Or for soccer practice on a Thursday afternoon? And who among us has not licked off all the icing off a cupcake? And then set it aside while taking another one, from the same tray, to once more lick off all its icing? Indeed, I have been guilty on both counts. Maybe that is why I love these enchanting fairy cakes. I decided to elevate this wonderful mini cake so I designed this Iced Cupcake ornament with pastry chefs, bakers, and sweet lovers in mind.

The Iced Cupcake Nemesis
Although cupcakes are beloved by children from 1 to 99, they do have a foe. Who has not run into that cruel grade school teacher who bans cupcakes to celebrate birthdays at school? Supposedly, that deliciously sticky icing is at the center of the complaint. Really? Give me a break! Indeed, hooray for icing!!! So, I designed this cupcake ornament specially to honor the frosting on a child’s fingers as they eat this wonderful, sweet treat, over their teacher’s objections.
Designing the Iced Cupcake Ornament
I used little gold foil cups as the base for the Iced Cupcake ornament, since I had extras left from my daughter’s wedding. Then, I used old bright-colors-striped scarves to represent the icing. Subsequently, I added a pompom on top. Like if it was a sweet cherry decoration. Finally, I always like to add a whimsical twist to my ornaments. So, I placed a delicate butterfly on top, as if softly ensuring it is good enough for consumption.
