Fairy Wedding
My son-in-law proposed to my daughter at Yosemite National Park. So, to me, it is a magical place filled with dreams. Yosemite is the home of a wide variety of majestic pine trees and you may find pinecones of all sizes as you hike through its trails. Like any woodland, many fairy species are found in this magical natural wonder. When it came time to plan the wedding, we wanted to add lots of very personal touches. I embraced the task of designing a Christmas ornament that would encapsulate their love journey. Then, we could give this ornament to the guests as a wedding memento. So I created the Pinecone Fairy ornament to celebrate my daughter’s real wedding, and to commemorate her fairy ceremony.
Pinecone Fairy Ornament Design Process
I designed the pinecone fairy with gold and white wings. This fairy bats her fairy wings as she flies through the woods from pine branch to pine branch. During her flight, she stops to collect mushrooms and flower nectars. I gave the fairy a hat made from an acorn that she wears on top of her silky brunette hair. Next, I gave her pointy ears to accentuate her playful manner. After that, I made her skirt from silk flower petals, and silk leaves. Finally, I added a string of pearls, and green, white, and gold beads, wrapped around her waist. I imagine this pinecone fairy flapping her wings, as the gems shine and emanate a subtle yellowish light resembling that of fireflies.
