Tinker Bell Ornament
hen I hear the word fairy, the iconic Tinker Bell comes to mind first. Now, Tinker Bell, one of the most famous fairies in children’s literature, does not fit the traditional stereotype of a sweet-winged being that flutters from flower to flower. Tinker Bell is jealous, possessive, and shows her temper when things do not go her way. It is not surprising that she exhibits animosity towards Wendy when she first arrives at Neverland. So, I designed this very spunky little fairy Tinker Bell figurine.
Tinker Bell Ornament Design Process
As I designed Tinker Bell, I wanted to show the emotions that make Tinker Bell humanlike. With short hair that spikes this-way-and-that-way, pointy ears, olive sparkly green eyes, a pixie dust stripe on her forehead, and a half-friendly smile, I was able to capture Tinker Bell’s personality. To complete Tink’s persona, I crowned her with a purple amethyst between her eyes, which represents her prominent rank in Peter Pan’s world.
I dressed Tinker Bell in “skeleton leaves” of various shades of green and gold. The sparkly golden skeleton leaves, her cut-fernlike gold spotted wings, and the string of shiny beads flowing down her skirt, represent the stream of fairy dust she leaves behind as she flies. Her given name, Tinker, stands for a travel tinsmith because, as described by Peter Pan, she “mends the pots and kettles.” So I added a copper pot dangling from her waistband. Finally, to complete her outfit, I fitted her with leather booties like the rest of the characters in this Peter Pan collection.

I purchased Tinker Bell this winter at the Winter Fair here in Columbus, Ohio. I have to admit, I’m just fascinated with fairies and Tinker Bell is magical. I keep her on my work desk so I can admire her and get creative inspiration on a regular basis. I love Tinker Bell’s delicate leaves and details. And her hair! I love it. I want to be her, I think. I highly recommend her if you enjoy Peter Pan or fairies. I also recommend Catalina’s ornaments as lovely decorations for your home decor!

I bought this ornament last winter for my Aunt. She has an amazing ornament collection, but nothing handmade, or of this quality. Seeing her face light up when she opened the box was everything!! Celistial Art products have unparalleled quality and detail. I’m looking forward to making ornament gifts a tradition for my aunt, and others of my family.
