he fantastic creatures I read about in my fairy tale books and folk tales have always sparked my imagination. So, it is not surprising that gnomes have been one of my favorite creatures since my childhood. In fact, one gnome paid a visit to me and my twin sister when we were old enough to sleep in toddler beds. Since then, I have always kept an eye for gnomes, and imagined them living all around us. I imagine them being gardeners, miners, foragers, and why not, baseball players too! So, I decided to create the Baseball Player Gnome figurine especially designed for the fans of the greatest game. This collectible is the perfect companion to the Buckeye Gnome or the Basketball Player Gnome ornaments. Even better, score them all for the set!
The first sports player gnome I created, was the Buckeye Gnome who is an American Football player. So, when designing the baseball player gnome, I had to first decide what seed or pod I was going to use. Around my neighborhood, you can find quite a few Sweetgum trees. Their prickly pods are perfectly round and so remarkably interesting. Thus, I thought the Sweetgum balls were perfect to make their bodies. Like the other gnomes, I designed this gnome with a tall hat. Also, I added a long scarf to protect him from the cold and windy weather. . Finally, I gave him a baseball so he would be ready to play the game. Perhaps, if you pay close attention this summer, you may see him scurrying around the ballpark
